The ProTech 2023 Malibu Custom 016 incorporates a ball bearing pivot design which allows the blade to open silky smooth and fast…… the flipping action on the Malibu is outstanding! The blade locks up with the plunge lock (Button Lock). The Custom Malibu handles are “Dragon Scale” Bronze Aluminum with an abalone push button, and satin finish hardware. The Reverse Tanto style blade is 154CM steel with a hand compound grind and mirror polish finish by Mike Irie. Incorporates a polished deep carry pocket clip. This ProTech Custom Malibu is a fashionable flipper knife with every bit of precision you’ve come to expect from ProTech. It flies open with the flipper action, with no springs, so it’s legal in many places.

Mike Irie: Mike Irie is a custom knife maker from Colorado Springs, Colorado who has been making knives full-time since 1991. He apprenticed under his father-in-law, Barry Wood. Irie is a member of the Knifemakers Guild and the Professional Knifemakers Association. He handcrafts both fixed and folding blades.

154CM Steel: 154CM steel is one of “better” steel varieties made for cutlery and other knife blades. It’s not a powder steel (CPM-154 would be the powder version), but it’s a commonly used steel for a higher grade knife. It has an exceptionally good balance between three enviable attributes which are toughness, hardness and corrosion-resistance.
