Microtech 719W-10ODS UTX-85-Warhound

The Microtech 719W-10ODS UTX-85-Warhound is a Microtech “Signature Series” model. It features a unique wharncliffe type blade that Microtech has deemed the “Warhound”. The handle/chassis has improved ergonomics, with rounded/contoured handle faces, and patches of grooves along the sides to ensure excellent grip. The firing button has been designed to increase surface contact for effective engagement, and the glass breaker has a ball-tip set in the trip-angle pattern base to increase its everyday carry manners. The Warhound blade has a plain edge, and is Bohler M390 or Carpenter CTS-204P steel blade with a stonewash finish. The anodized OD Green 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum handle features a blasted finish, pocket clip, glass breaker, and hardware. The UTX-85 gets its name because it is 85 percent the size of the Microtech’s Ultratech model, and is an excellent option for those who prefer a smaller OTF auto knife.

Bohler M390 Steel: Bohler M390 stainless steel is one of the recent wave of “super steels” heralded by knife makers all over the world. It has characteristics of high hardness and excellent corrosion resistance. This means you’re going to get a very fine edge that retains it sharpness even through hard use, with little to no patina. Introduced and manufactured by Bohler-Uddeholm, M390 is a powdered steel. Bohler’s specifications claim a Rockwell hardness of 60 – 62HRC, putting it in the higher echelon of stainless knife steels. M390 is called a “micro clean” steel and takes a mirror finish very well.

Carpenter CTS-204P Steel: CTS-204P is made by the USA-based Carpenter Technology Corporation. The unique combination of wear resistance, toughness, polish ability and corrosion resistance makes CTS 204P an excellent choice for knife blades. CTS-204P fine grained alloy is a popular choice for high end folders and small fixed blades with a working hardness up to 62HRC. It exhibits excellent performance with both, coarse and high polished edges.
