Microtech 233-1RD Red UTX-85

The Microtech 233-1RD Red UTX-85 has been updated and refined over the previous UTX-85 models from years ago. It features improved ergonomics, with rounded handle faces, and patches of grooves along the sides to ensure excellent grip. The firing button has been redesigned to increase surface contact for effective engagement, and the glass breaker has a ball-tip set in the trip-angle pattern base to increase its everyday carry manners. This UTX-85 model has a tanto (plain edge) Bohler M390 steel blade with a black finish and satin finish flats. The 6061-T6 aluminum handle has an anodize red finish. This UTX-85 model has black finish hardware, pocket clip, and glass breaker. NOTE: Pictures show Elmax Blade, current models have Bohler M390 steel blades.

Bohler M390 Steel: Bohler M390 stainless steel is one of the recent wave of “super steels” heralded by knife makers all over the world. It has characteristics of high hardness and excellent corrosion resistance. This means you’re going to get a very fine edge that retains it sharpness even through hard use, with little to no patina. Introduced and manufactured by Bohler-Uddeholm, M390 is a powdered steel. Bohler’s specifications claim a Rockwell hardness of 60 – 62HRC, putting it in the higher echelon of stainless knife steels. M390 is called a “micro clean” steel and takes a mirror finish very well.
