The Microtech 166-10PR Hawk – Proof Run is the rebirth of the classic Hawk push-button automatic knife. Originally released in 1996, this knife revisits the classic folder with updated aesthetic features redesigned for a sleeker finish and increased functionality. Streamlined Karambit blade and automatic firing mechanism make for a sturdy and modernized take on this iconic piece. Excellent ergonomics, a carbide glass breaker, and jimping right where you need it are readily apparent at first sight. But, it’s the incredible design of the spine, tight tolerances, and industry-leading action that you can’t see that make all the difference. This knife is simply amazing.
This Hawk model is built with a black anodized 6061-T6 aluminum handle with black traction inserts, blasted hardware, and a tip-up pocket clip. It also features a glass breaker and a lanyard hole. The Hawk/Karambit style blade (Plain Edge-No Serrations) is Carpenter CTS-204P steel with a stonewash finish. Note: These limited proof run models are all serialized pre-production models.
Carpenter CTS-204P Steel: CTS-204P is made by the USA-based Carpenter Technology Corporation. The unique combination of wear resistance, toughness, polish ability and corrosion resistance makes CTS 204P an excellent choice for knife blades. CTS-204P fine grained alloy is a popular choice for high end folders and small fixed blades with a working hardness up to 62HRC. It exhibits excellent performance with both, coarse and high polished edges.
